Several freshwater fishing tournaments were held over the Friday, August 3, 2012 weekend. A FLW Walleye Tour pro event and three Walmart Bass Fishing League tournaments were among them. Here's a quick rundown on some of the results:
FLW Walleye Tour Results
The FLW Walleye Tour held a pro fishing tournament at Bays de Noc in Escanaba, Michigan, Thursday, August 2, 2012 through Saturday, August 4, 2012. It was the last pro walleye fishing tournament before the fall championship. The top walleye whisperers turned out to be Wisconsin anglers, Korey Sprengel and Ryan Dempsey. Both managed to catch slightly over 77 pounds worth of walleye. Sprengel received $50,000 in prize money for his efforts. Dempsey, on the other hand, received over $14,000 in prize money. The walleye tournament's remaining top five spots were claimed by pro anglers Danny Plautz (WI), Ross Grothe (MN) and John Schneider (WI).
Lake Cayuga Results
The Walmart Bass Fishing League held a fishing tournament in Seneca Falls, New York, on Saturday, August 4, 2012. It was one of three Walmart Bass Fishing League events held on Saturday. The big winner at Lake Cayuga was angler Bob Salotti of Geneva, New York. Salotti expertly finessed 18 pounds, 15 ounces worth of bass into his fishing boat. His fishing talents earned him well over $5,000 in prize money and the admiration of his peers. The Lake Cayuga tournament's remaining top five spots were captured by New Yorkers Kevin Bishop, Woody Henyan, Jamie Hartman and Cory Baright.
Rend Lake Results
Rend Lake in Benton, Illinois, was also the site of a Walmart Bass Fishing League event on Saturday. During the fishing tournament, bass angler Brad Porter proved unbeatable. He caught a whopping 18 pounds worth of bass and earned over $3,000 in prize money. The Rend Lake tournament's remaining top five spots went to Matt Wolfe (IL), Neil McCord (IL), Todd Poe (IL) and Jeremy Mull (IL).
Ohio River Results
Out of the three Walmart Bass Fishing League tournaments held on Saturday, the Ohio River event delivered the closest finish. Matt Cash of Cincinnati, Ohio, finished in 1st place after catching 9 pounds, 1 ounce worth of bass. His talents earned him a payday worth over $3,000. Bass anglers John Miller (PA), Mike Spicer (OH) and Brent Willey (OH) battled it out for the tournament's remaining top three spots. Miller caught 8 pounds, 1 ounce worth of bass and finished in 2nd place. Spicer and Willey both caught 8 pounds worth of bass and were tied for 3rd place. Chris Ludwig of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, finished in 5th place. He caught 7 pounds, 13 ounces worth of bass.
